How in the world is 2017 over already? I can't believe another year has already come and gone. This year tons of amazing albums were dropped, but I've narrowed down my favorite songs and included a Spotify playlist so y'all can listen while you read!
Like this past year, this playlist is all over the place, and in random order:
Conversations - Judah & the Lion: this year I discovered this catchy song by one of my new favorite bands Judah & the Lion. After seeing them at Music Midtown, I fell in love with their folk, pop, hip-hop sound and can't get enough. Seeing them again in April at The Orange Peel in Asheville, NC!
coyote - Stop Light Observations: this local band from Charleston, SC killed it yet again with this song. Listen to it once, and I promise you'll have it on repeat for the next couple of days. Also, catch them at Shaky Knees in Atlanta this May!
Freedom - Dirty Heads: this song was released by one of my all time favorite bands on their EP DESSERT, and is the perfect summer jam. It's catchy, and just makes you want to dance.
Call It Dreaming - Iron & Wine: just Iron & Wine. Enough said.
Scared to Be Lonely - Martin Garrix and Dua Lipa: y'all this song is a jam. My boyfriend showed me to this song and I was skeptical at first, but it won me over. And after seeing Dua Lipa perform it at Music Midtown I was even more sold.
No Limit - G-Eazy, ASAP Rocky, and Cardi B: how can you not dance to this song? Hint: You can't.
New Rules - Dua Lipa: y'all Dua Lipa killed it with this anthem. This song was stuck in my head for like two weeks when I first heard it, and I still jam to it now. If you've ever been screwed over, this is your new jam!
Fire Escape - Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness: this song is so fun! I can't help but scream it so loud when I listen to it. If you loved Jack's Mannequin, this is your new group - Andrew McMahon was the lead singer, and this band is his new project!
LOVE.FEAT.ZARCARI - Kendrick Lamar: what would a top songs post be without at least one song from Kendrick Lamar? Nothing.
Summer Clouds - Iron & Wine: again, Iron & Wine. That's it.
And there you have it, friends. My top songs of 2017. Here's to an even better year of music in 2018!
